About Me :
My first involvement with Derbyshire Voice was when the original office was being set up, shortly after the organisation was formed. An occupational therapist I was working with made the connection for me knowing that I had an interest in computers and I became involved in the design and production of publicity material and setting up the membership database. One of the Derbyshire Voice staff encouraged me to become a “Rep” after a year or so and I have attended several series of Trust meetings in the capacity since.
I am currently one of Derbyshire Voice’s Reps on the Trust Equalities and Inclusion committee, which enables me to use some of my experience and interest in this area, I also attend the County Engagement meetings, which expands my knowledge of Day services and inpatient matters.
The support I have received in performing the tasks of a Derbyshire Voice Rep has been quiet excellent, and would encourage all those with an interest in Mental Health services in Derbyshire to become a member of Derbyshire Voice and perhaps consider applying to be a Rep when vacancies appear. It’s a great opportunity to perhaps “give something back”.
