Location : Derby

About Me :

*Meeting(s) attended for Derbyshire Voice: *Clinical Research Network & Spirituality
Steering Group. Both are at Derbyshire Health Care (NHS) Foundation Trust (DHCFT) - formally Derbyshire Mental Health Services Trust.

*Associated interests:* Mental health chaplaincy, inter-faith mainly in Derby, spirituality & well being.  I often attend the public session of the DHCFT board meeting & I'm active in the  local & regional mental
health service user & carer research initiatives.I'm a member of the
East Midlands Regional (mental health) Spirituality Network & co-chair of Derby Depression Club.

*Leisure interests:* Cycling which is my main mode of transport around Derby - note I'm not one of the Lycra brigade, but I'm a member of the Cyclists' Touring Club & Derby Cycling Group. Holidays are camping with a bicycle usually via train.  I usually socialise with the local pagan groups & sometimes I go camping with them.  I visit heritage sites, museums & art galleries. Interest in architecture, especially the medieval period. I'm a member of Derbyshire Archaeology Society, English
Heritage & the National Trust.  I do enjoy reading historical fiction such as the Brother Cadfael & Sharpe novels. These interests, especially cycling do help to combat my depression & anxiety.

*Other: *I was an electronics engineer**before I lost my job due to my mental health problems in 1994 & I wasn't in any fit state to do anything.  At that time I didn't know about what I am doing now as a DV rep.  Sometimes when my sense of humour gets the better of me, I refer to myself as a state registered nut case!

Personal Quote

Hell is for those that believe in religion,
spirituality is for those who have been there /(source unknown)/.  Of course not all religions (faith groups) believe in hell & I do take the
statement tong in cheek, but having mental health problems at best makes my life a challenge & most of the time it is a matter of survival.
