Psychological Therapy Services across Derbyshire

09/11

Patients are at the heart of everything we do and it's important that they benefit fom the best treatment that is available based on proven clinical outcomes.

So, NHS Derbyshire, the Primary Care Trust responsible for buying psychological therapy services across the country, is now undertaking a three month consultation on plans to transform mental health psychotherapy services.  The plans are all about patients being able to access evidence-based specialist psychological therapies in Derby City and Derbyshire County.

The National Institute for Clinical Excellence (NICE) makes specific recommendations about clinical services, and this acts as a guide for the services we purchase.  NHS Derbyshire County are currently looking at psychological therapy services and have identified the need to provide more therapies across the whole of Derbyshire, not just within the City.  With this in mind, NHS Derbyshire County are considering a change to the existing psychodynamic therapy service and are therefore undertaking a 3 month consultation on their proposals.  Over the coming days you may well start to see news of these potential proposals reported in the media or from patients.

All users of psychodynamic therapy services should have had a discussion and letter from their therapist informing them of the consultation.

It is important that the voice of both service users and the groups that support them is heard as part of the consultation.

We are holding a series of events for patients and their carers during September and October.  You will find enclosed with this letter a flyer about these events.  We would be most grateful if you could highlight this to any relevant service users.

If you as an organisation would like to feedback there is an online questionnaire http://www.derbyshirecounty.nhs.uk/services_we_buy/service-developments-consultations

Or you can contact us using the details above.

Yours Sincerely
