Top Service Receiver Priorities for May 2011
06/11
- We are still concerned about “Improving Access to Psychological Therapies” (IAPT) services as we have heard that people are not really using the service in Amber Valley and Erewash areas. If this is the case, why is take-up of the service low in these areas specifically? There is still no IAPT program running in the Western Corridor of Derbyshire (Ashbourne etc.)
- We are concerned about the delay in implementing a quality, effective and supportive Volunteering Scheme at Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DHNFT), this has been spoken about for many months but progress is slow.
- There appears to be some issues on the inpatient wards with patient access to personal electronic devices such as laptops, headphones etc.
- (DHNFT) are looking into ways to reduce the number of “Do Not Attends” (DNA’s) at outpatient appointments. We are concerned that changes to the appointment system must improve the service for individuals and not just improve the targets set. We have been invited to be involved in looking at this issue.
- Although we have raised concerns about patient access to mental health Advocacy at the Radbourne Unit, Derby City (which affects both City and County residents) there still seems to be problems with waiting lists for patients to access an advocate during their time in hospital.
- We are getting several reports about patients in hospital being called to meetings with medical/ward staff during meal times and visiting times. We have been told that on occasion this has resulted in patients missing meals.
- Due to the financial cuts being faced by the NHS, there are ongoing concerns about front line services, run by Community Mental Health Teams (such as therapy/social groups) and whether they will continue to be funded and supported by medical staff.
- Effective consultation with service receivers on the Redesign of the Adult Care Pathway Project still hasn’t taken place.
