Top Service Receiver Priorities for March 2011 – UPDATE.

05/11

  • We are hearing about and experiencing poor “customer service attitudes” when attending the Radbourne Unit both for patients and visitors.

We are working with the managers at the Unit and have had some more positive experiences recently.

  • There appears to be vast differences in the length of time some patients stay on Consultant Psychiatrists caseloads.  We would like more information on the criteria for making decisions on this.

This is ongoing and we understand that this will be looked into during the ‘service Redesign Projects’ that are taking place.

  • The Radbourne Unit now has Social Worker cover, dedicated to the inpatient wards, available at all times.  This is very good news and should improve services.

Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DHNFT) will monitor the effects of this service and we will be informed of findings, through the meetings that  Representatives attend.

  • We are still concerned about “Improving Access to Psychological Therapies” (IAPT) services as there is a lot of speculation about their future and possible changes to the services available to individuals.

This issue is ongoing; Representatives are raising the subject at a variety of meetings.

  • Due to the financial cuts being faced by the NHS, we are concerned about front line services being reduced in many ways including, unfilled staff vacancies.

This issue is ongoing; Representatives are raising the subject at a variety of meetings.

  • DHNFT are looking into ways to reduce the number of “Do Not Attends” (DNA’s) at outpatient appointments.  We are concerned that changes to the appointment system must improve the service for individuals and not just improve the statistics but have been invited to be involved in looking at this issue.

We are working with DHNFT on this.

  • Congratulations to Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust (DHNFT), we have received compliments about the atmosphere at Jackie’s Pantry Café (at the Radbourne Unit) after some of the recent changes and some building/redesign work has also now started at the Unit.

Work is progressing and Representatives are still actively involved.

  • Representatives have been told on a few occasions recently, when asking for some documented information on a variety of topics that permission would have to be sought.  None of the information appeared to be of a sensitive nature.  We will be raising this formally with DHNFT.

We have been assured that this will not happen again unless the information is confidential.

  • Service receiver involvement in the Redesign of the Adult Care Pathway work seems to have stalled resulting in confusion about the project.  We will be working closely with DHCNFT to get this back on track.

There are now planned consultation events to look at redesigning the Adult inpatient and crisis services and we awaiting further information about involvement with the community services redesign.
