Top Service Receiver Priorities for January 2011 UPDATE
03/11
As identified through the meetings attended by Service Receiver Representatives.
With the proposed changes to health and social care services, there are concerns about how these decisions are being reached, the effectiveness of the current consultation and how services will be affected in the future and... With all of the changes to health and social care, plus the number of people who's mental health could be negatively affected by the recession, how are the services planning to manage this possible increase in demand with reduced resources?
DV Representatives are continuing to attend any consultation events.
Due to the financial cuts being faced by the NHS, we are concerned about front line services being reduced in many ways including, unfilled staff vacancies.
DV Representatives are asking about vacancy information at all of the relevant meetings we attend and will monitor this.
It is great news that Derbyshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust have increased Dietetic & Nutrition support for the City and South Derbyshire area but are concerned about access for people in the north of the county.
The access arrangements to this type of support are different in the North of the County and there do not appear to be problems accessing it in the North at this time.
There is uncertainty about the future of some psychotherapy services currently running at Temple House. We want to find out what the future plans are for these services.
We are still looking into this issue.
After the first phrase of the redesign of the adult services, what evaluation has taken place and what are the lessons learned before the start of the next phase of changes?
We are still looking into this issue.
We have had a number of concerns raised recently about access to advocacy services from the Radbourne Unit, Derby City. There appears to be a high demand from a limited resource.
This is an ongoing concern and one that we are continuing to work on.
Derbyshire Voice is still awaiting confirmation about the funding to continue enabling service receivers to have a voice in the design and delivery of mental health services.
We are still awaiting confirmation about out future funding along with a lot of other organisations.
We are concerned that there is a national promotion of 'Personalisation' (the idea is about giving people more choice and control over their lives in all social care settings) that is more able to serve people with physical care requirements than mental health needs.
We are becoming more involved in this area and will continue to learn more about how we can encourage equity of service for people with mental health concerns.
